A normal espresso takes from 25 to 30 seconds to pull, and fills 25 to 30 milliliters, while a Lungo may take up to 45 seconds until a minute to pull and might fill 75 to 90 milliliters.
A Caffe Lungo though should not be mistaken for a Caffe Americano, which is an espresso with hot water added to it or a “long black”, which is an inverse order to prepare americano. In the Lungo, all the water is press through the ground coffee, and the Lungo is generally shorter than an Americano or Long Black. Since to make Lungo is to brewed under longer period of time which let additional hot water passing through the round coffee thus extracting to its limit.
